Arandas, located in the eastern part of the state of Jalisco, is one of the specific regions of Mexico where tequila can be produced and distilled. The municipality of Arandas has a surface area of 1,238 square kilometers, with an altitude of 2,060 meters above sea level. Arandas is about a two hour drive from Guadalajara.
It borders to the north with the municipalities of San Miguel el Alto, San Julián y San Diego de Alejandría; to the south with Jesus Maria, Ayotlán and Atotonilco; to the east with the municipality of Jesus Maria and the state of Guanajuato, and to the west with Tepatitlán de Morelos and Atotonilco.
Arandas is made up of 384 localities, the principal localities are Arandas (the county seat), San Ignacio Cerro Gordo, Santa María del Valle, Santiaguito y Los Dolores.
Tierra Pobre, Gente Laboriosa", (“poor earth, laborious people”) is the motto of this great city, that always welcomes you with open arms. |
