The tequilas shown in this section are Young, Joven, Suave, Smooth, Acabado or Gold tequilas. We will state in the description if the tequilas are 100% Agave or if they are Mixed (Mixto) with only 51% agave sugars. There are only a few brands that produce a Gold or Joven Tequila that is 100% Agave - most are mixtos.
The word young or smooth (Joven or Suave) is often used to describe a tequila that, after distillation, has been allowed to settle and finish for a few weeks in the tanks before bottling. Some distillers may add coloring or herbs which impart a pale golden color and then age for one or two more months. These tequilas are often called suave, joven, gold, or abocado, implying youth and smoothness.
